For nearly 20 years the PLMA show has brought retailers together with manufacturers to help find new products, make new contacts, and discover new ideas that will make private label programs succeed and grow. The show has grown to nearly 2,500 stands and attracts more than 3,000 buyers from Europe's top retailers and wholesalers. Private Label is unique. According to the PLMA, it is sold from coast-to-coast, yet carries hundreds of different brands. Sales exceed $50 billion, yet most manufacturers are unknown to the public. Throughout Europe, private label is winning the loyalty of more and more consumers every day. According to a research study of seven countries conducted for PLMA by MORI, the well-known public opinion consultancy, Private Label has achieved unprecedented acceptance with shoppers who say that they are now more aware of private label products and plan to increase their purchases of them. Sales of Private Label consumer packaged goods are a large and growing global phenomenon, according to a study released today by ACNielsen, the world's leading marketing information company. In the 36 countries and 80 categories studied, consumers spent 15% of total value sales on Private Label consumer packaged goods, but with widespread diversity across both markets and product types. |
